Information

The suspension kit hangs our white acoustic rafts and baffles, and our soft PET felt baffles, from the soffit, with no suspended ceiling grid. Spiral wire spring anchors twist into the panel: two into the top edge of a baffle, four into the back of a raft. A gripper hooks onto each, and a steel cable runs up through it to a ceiling fixing or eyelet at the soffit; the gripper sets the drop.

Baffles: two cables, vertical

Two wire spring anchors twist into the top edge of the baffle. A gripper hooks onto each, and a steel cable runs up through it to a ceiling fixing or eyelet at the soffit. The baffle hangs vertically on edge and absorbs from both faces.

Rafts: four cables, horizontal

Four spring anchors twist into the back of the raft, one near each corner, each with its gripper and a cable up to the soffit, so the raft hangs flat. A raft is levelled in two directions: work round the four grippers until it sits flat along the raft and across it. Longer rafts take extra droppers mid-span.

Cut long, set at the gripper

The cables are cut long, everything is hung, and then the drop is set at the grippers. On a soffit that steps or slopes, that is what makes a run line through.

There is no suspended ceiling grid involved, so the kit suits rooms with exposed services or a rooflight. Other fixings are available where the soffit cannot be drilled or a grid is already in place: tell us what you are fixing to.

Ordered with the panels

FAB Supplies sells the kit with the baffles and the rafts, as installation method 1 on each listing; it has no listing of its own. Choose Baffles or Rafts above, and the order button opens that listing.

Questions about this product

What is in the kit?

Wire spring anchors that twist into the panel, steel cables, height-adjusting grippers and ceiling fixings for the soffit.

How many cables does a baffle or a raft need?

A baffle hangs vertically on two, from spring anchors in its top edge. A raft hangs flat on four, from spring anchors in its back, one near each corner; longer rafts take extra droppers mid-span.

Do I need a suspended ceiling grid?

No. The cables hang from ceiling fixings in the soffit, so the kit works where there is no grid to hang from, under exposed services or below a rooflight. Where the soffit cannot be drilled, or a grid is already in place, other fixings are available: tell us what you are fixing to.

How is the height set?

The cables are cut long and the drop is set at the gripper once everything is hanging. A raft is levelled in two directions: work round the four grippers until it sits flat along the raft and across it.

Where do I order it?

At FAB Supplies, with the panels: the kit is installation method 1 on the baffle and the raft listings.
